Dear Love is... Readers and Fans, especially Helen, Rosio, Ivonne, Jessica and Laura, Wolfgang and the ladies in Germany. Thank you all for your kindness, concern and wonderful messages.

I start the New Year back at my drawing board and with the memory of my dear wife Mercia deep in my heart. I want this to be a very special year for us all. Starting with this new blog which will list posts in a better date related order.

Recently, I have received emails from readers who cannot find Love is...or, that it has disappeared from some websites. So, beginning this month, I will put up a new cartoon each day. It's extra work, but I have got the hang of how to do this, so it should run smoothly! I hope you will always be able to enjoy the latest daily cartoons here, if other sources are unavailable.

Yours ever,

Thank you for continuing to provide the Daily Love is... for the fans of this wonderful comic. It had recently disappeared from the online site to my local newspaper and I have been searching for several months for a replacement. I bought the Love is... iPhone app but it just wasn't the same since the daily comics they post on the app are from the previous year. I send these to my wife and have been since we were in high school, which I'm sure there are many fans out there that do this as well. Love is... comics are a part of our relationship and I thank you for carrying on the tradition.

Best regards,

Thank you for your message, Bryan. I am delighted to do this so you and the fans can get the Daily Love is...panels online again.

Every good wish,

Dear Bill:

It was so wonderful to find that the LOVE IS drawings and sayings still exist. I always looked forward to seeing them since 1970 and still have them clipped from the Los Angeles Times in a special cedar box. Today I was at a car dealership and was reading the Los Angeles Times and clipped out the LOVE IS today. I just always loved the cartoon and heart warming caption that went along with it. Is there a book that I could purchase of all the LOVE IS sayings? Please let me know. Thanks from the bottom of my heart and I am sure many others for keeping this going so strong. It's surely a work of art from within the heart.

Mr Asprey.
My wife an I got married in Cyprus in 2006 an the vicar gave us a poster with 5 of your fantastic love is... pictures. But these are all on 1 A4 poster. Is there a online store or shop that sells bigger prints? As we would like to put them up on the wall.
Thanks, Sean.

My husband and I first started dating in 1979. He began clipping these and giving them to me in cards. We were married in 1982 and I still have the original clippings. I was so happy to find your site by accident and plan to give him some BACK for Valentines Day this year...it will soon be our 33rd anniversary!

Mr. Asprey,

On the main page of your site you mention poetry...
Do you write poetry as well?
I saw 3 consecutive panels years ago which formed a rhyme and which I displayed on my fridge.
Do you have a poetry book in the works?
Please share with us.
A poetry book with illustrations would be divine.
You know I'm already a huge fan.

My deepest condolences.
Hugs from Jersey...

Dear Jac,
Thank you for your kind words.
Yes, I have been writing on and off, over many years. You may have seen the poetry page in the About Me section. No poetry book, though - I keep saying 'perhaps next year' - always too busy on current work!
All good wishes, Bill

I am looking for one love is for my neice. It has a dad and his kids they have new bikes and he has a patch on his pants. It says "going without so they don't have to" please let me know if there is any way finding it. I would love to find it for her she lost her dad and this would mean so much to her. Thank you.

I would like to help Donna but I can't visualize her e-mail.
13 Bill Asprey - 25/04/2015 @ 11:27 PM

I remeber the drawing, can't quite remember when I did it. I have no control as to when they are published, but I will find it if you can give me a little time, Donna.
Best regards, Bill

Dear Mr Asprey,

I know the panel Donna has mentioned.
It was published on December 29, 2000.
I have a Love is ... excel list where I include the date, the sayings and some key words as well as
folder loaded with panels according to the year.
So I can locate the panels easily but it is not updated as it used to be. It was given to me
by a dearest friend.
Unfortunately, I cannot post it here. It would be good if the site allowed us to post the panels.
Mr Asprey, I thank you wholeheartedly for your kindness.

Dear Laura,

Thank you for the publication date. What fantastic records you have ( mine are a mess). I found the panel. I shall scan it and put it up on a special page and post a message here. I will also ask Mark, who runs the site, if you can be allowed to post panels. Kind regards, Bill
16 Bill Asprey - 30/04/2015 @ 7:12 PM

The panel Donna requested can be viewed by going to the Love is...Special Postings Page.

So sorry I could not find a suitable colour panel for last Sunday. Bill

Dear Mr. Asprey,

I adore the Love is... comics and have a very fond memory of them growing up. My parents were married in 1978, and one of my mother's favorite wedding gifts was a ceramic spoon rest that was made by the LA Times in the 70s. The cartoon was Love is... Kissing her before asking her what's for dinner. The husband had his back to the viewer and was holding flowers behind his back. His wife was wearing an apron and cooking dinner.

Sadly, the spoon rest was broken many years ago. I have since continued to look for the cartoon or the spoon rest (I have found a few similar ones on ebay, but not the exact one!)

I realize that you have continued the Love is cartoons since that time, but I am wondering if you or anyone else knows where I can find a copy of the cartoon. It would mean so much!

Thank you!

it is lovely to find this site . I didn't know it existed till today . My husband and I always sent each other the love is characters when we were courting and first married. They have always been special to us . We will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in October.
21 Bill Asprey - 13/09/2015 @ 8:32 AM

I'm glad you found us and congratulations on your 40th wedding anniversary in October!

22 Bill Asprey - 13/09/2015 @ 10:16 AM

I'm sorry you can't see today's color panel. There's a technical issue I'm trying to get fixed as soon as possible.

23 Jac - 27/09/2015 @ 4:42 AM

Mr. Asprey,

I love your poems, especially "Mercia", "A Wonderous Walk" and "Picking Blackberries."
Please share more with us. ^^

Thank you for these sweet comics of "Love is" when I was young in the early 80's (20 years old) I tried my hand at drawing the "Love Is" comics from our local newspaper. I loved them and I believe I have my version somewhere tucked away in my keepsakes (30 years later)...the comic and drawings bring such joy and love. Thank you :0)
25 Bill Asprey - 10/10/2015 @ 10:43 PM

Dear Jac,
Thank you for your kind words. I will try to find time to put up more poems.
26 Bill Asprey - 13/07/2016 @ 11:08 AM

Dear All,

Just to let you know upgrades are being made to the site. I'm still a bit confused with the new system so if you experience any problems let me know and I will pass on to Mark and Jake who keep me online!

Yours, Bill
